Taking Courses Online - FAQs


Q: 1. What are my system requirements?

A: Operating Systems - Windows 95/98/NT Web Browsers - Netscape Navigator (3.0 and higher), Internet Explorer (3.0 and higher)


Q: 2. Are these courses Approved Courseware?

A: Yes, Approved Courseware as User Specialist Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Certified Professional Approved Study Guide.

Q: 3. Can I use the online courses from more than one computer, on my home PC or at work?

A: Yes, as long as you finish the Unit it will be marked where you last left off.

Q: 4. Does Ottawa Online provide any Diploma or Certification?

A: No, but we can send you a Course Completion Record outlining which units you have taken and your scores. If you feel you know the software product well enough you can go to a Microsoft testing center to obtain the certificate for Microsoft products.

Q: 5. What are the current enrollment fees?

Q: 6. How much time does it take to finish a course?

A: Approximately 2 to 4 hours to finish a unit and if there are 4 units about 16 hours total. If you bookmark your current spot you can go back to it later.

Q: 7. How much information is currently available or what is the depth of each course?

A: It is beyond the scope of short answer in a FAQ section, so please see
course catalogue .

Q: 8. What browser version do I need to take the MindLeaders courses?

To receive the best MindLeaders website experience, you should use Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and have the Macromedia Flash 7.0 or higher plugin installed. Note: Flash 7.0 is not required for our courses.

Q: 9. After I type all the information at the Mindleaders Select Signon page, I press "Enter" and nothing happens. Why?

The mouse must be used to click SIGNON to continue to the course list.

Q: 10. After clicking "Done" to answer a question while taking the MindLeaders course from the Web server or the Internet, I am taken back to the Signon page.

At the beginning of each training session, you must start by going to http://link.mindleaders.com/e-learn/login.asp. The questions will not work if this Signon page is bypassed.

Q: 11. After entering my User ID and Password at the Signon page, I click the "SIGNON" button, but nothing happens.

This appears to be a browser configuration issue. It is necessary for JavaScript to be enabled. For example, enable JavaScript in Netscape Navigator or ensure "Run ActiveX scripts" is enabled in Internet Explorer. After making these changes, you will need to reload the page or restart the browser to apply the changes.

Q: 12. I'd like to report an error in one of the courses. Who should I contact?

Q: 13. When attempting to run a simulation, I get the following Authorware error stating: "Function ReadExtFile on local files not allowed in non-trusting mode." What should I do?
